The Dalits were traditionally restricted to their position by birth, a fate that was all but impossible to escape. Now things are changing in India, the Caste System is no longer legal but the discrimination is on going. The Dalits are the foundation on which India is built, they are the largest group in India. With increased education in India, the Dalits learned of revolutions and human rights movements in other parts of the world. The majority are still Hindu, but many are abandoning their old gods and replacing them with men. « Go Back |
